UNSAFE STUDENTS


Most of us read the newspapers daily. Many go through the websites too to know the latest news. No field in the world is left which does not find place in the news. News related to the field of education is also published regularly. It is found that a large number of news is centered around the mishaps about the students. These news reflect that many students face threats even to their lives in and outside the educational institution they study in. These news are mostly related to:-

1. Corporal punishment to the students in the educational institutions.
2. Accidental cases within the educational institutions.
3. Accidental cases on road while students go to school or coming back home.
4. Kidnap cases in and out the institutions.
5. Rape and molestation cases with girls.
6. Attacks by stray animals on the students inside school campus.

It was felt that we should go deeper in this problem and try to find out solution so that student community could be helped and some measures could be taken to ensure their safety and security..

WHY ONLY SCHOOL- GOING STUDENTS?

Students are students, whether they are school-going or college-going. But we took into consideration only school-going students as they are immature and hence, most of the time unable to avoid their victimisation. On the other hand, college going students are mature and adults and can save themselves from being victim to a larger extent.
Our survey also resulted that 90% of the victims are school-going children whereas only 10% are college students. Also, schoool students face a variety of problems and threats whereas college students' problems are mainly of road accidents and ragging related.
